She's rusting from the inside out ?? Box has a bunch of holes around the inside, and the cab corners are about gone.

Pretty good for a 97 that's been in the western New York snow belt all it's life.

Certainly is unique Dan! You'll be the only guy at the show with one of those. I've never seen a camper with a support axle.

I need to modify the camper just a bit underneath, and remove or modify the truck bumper to get it all the way on. Played with it a little, fridge doesn't work, but the A/C does 1f642.png:) Have a couple water leaks to chase down too before I can check all the wet stuff....

All 4 burners on the stove lit, still have to check the furnace and oven.

Hot water tank has no water to it, so it must not work.

It has some roof leaks years ago, so I need to repair the ceiling, but it has been stored inside a barn for at least the last 15 years.

Guy said he bought it at an auction, at least 15 years ago, maybe more. Brought it home and put it in the barn. Hasn't touched it since...

It is. Supposed to sleep 6, I would say 4 adults. Seats 8 at the table

Fridge, 4 burner stove, oven, furnace, roof a/c, hot water and shower. 2 closets and lots of storage.

It is a 1972 Born Free. Model BF-20. So 20 feet long.....

You could reupholster a '70 Arctic Cat seat with those cushions!

Seriously though it is incredibly clean.  Love it.

Any mouses found?

Been many years since I have seen one of these. Probably the precursor to our present 5th wheelers. A way to get extra room inside without a total tow behind trailer.

Cool!

Surprisingly, other than half a bale of hay on the roof from birds, the stuff on the counter I pulled out of drawers and cabinets, a sheet off the bed and some awning poles from under the floor, what you see is how it came.

No mouse droppings, spider webs, bees nests, chewed paper etc. Not even much dust.

Other than the roof, it looks as if it could have been used very recently.

Only the dust on the outside, that blew off driving it home showed that it had been stored for a long time.

Cool, but how do you pull a trailer of garden tractors to the show?

Any idea what kind of capacity, or loading the camper axle can take?

No clue what the capacity is yet.

I'm assuming you can pull a trailer with it, since the factory built a light plug into the back of the camper, but there is no hitch or place to put one....

For the local shows I go to, I guess I'm back to making an extra trip like I used to :(

Even if it would pull a trailer, I won't personally pull some of the loads I do behind it. The frame under it isn't all that LOL

I did read somewhere that the axle is 2000 #

No clue yet how much weight is on it just from the camper, nor what the camper actually weighs.

There is a local farm with a certified scale, just a few miles away. Once I get all the mods done so I can mount the camper correctly, I plan to run it over there and see if I can get some weights..... Not sure if I can get an actual axle weight, but I can get a total so I know what the camper actually weighs.

I don't remember if the "approach" to their scale is level with the scale bed. If it is, I should be able to get pretty close axle weights.

I think, by adjusting the axle (it is adjustable for height of the truck) and by regulating the pressure in my rear air bags, I can pretty much make the axle weight whatever I want it to be. Will have to see how the front to rear balance is to be sure.

I also have both 14" and 15" rims that will fit the camper, so I can change camper axle height that way too.

Really is clean for setting that long in storage, must not have been used too much from the looks of the carpet.

Pretty sure the carpet is a replacement. I think the original was a brown and yellowish shag....

Also note: by the sound of the brochure people rode back there.... I remember doing it as a kid, but I have no idea if it's legal anymore.
