Reverse speed on Homelite T-12

Recommended Posts

I can't get more than about 1 mph in reverse on my T-12 with the hydro trans. Is this an adjustment on the linkage that opens the valve more?? I also noticed my top speed is down a bit. Checked all fluids & belt tension seems to be good. Doesn't the amount the valve opens have an impact on pto speed to the trans? Thanks: Gary Hamilton

Gary, have you changed the hydro fluid lately? Sounds like you may have some moisture buildup and in cold (freezing) conditions you might have this problem? Is it only when very cold that this occurs? Steve

I haven't changed the fluid; however it happens even at 50 deg.

If you have the vickers trans check for worn ball joint connection that controls hydro lever into pump,, most probs. are there.

Are you saying the ball joint at the end of the linkage is loose, so the lever at the pump is not being actuated enough?? This sound like a fairly simple fix; can I take it up in adjustment, or do I need to replace the ball joint? If so is it an easy part to get or retrofit?? Thanks: Gary Hamilton
