Cherry Red Muffler

I have a portable generator with a 16HP B&S. The last couple of times I ran it, the muffler glowed red. I had this happen before on another engine and the valves had no gap. Just dug in and the valves look great, good gap and seats look great. What else could cause this? Thanx, Dave

Would retarded timing be from a half sheared flywheel key? Runs pretty good. I'll look in the carb and post some photos. Everyone likes photos. 4i

I'll confess up front that I have no photos. I took this carb & the one on my 917 (Got One!) over to a friend's last night, where he has a commercial-size ultrasonic cleaner. This carb looked OK but definitely benefited from a bath. Put it back on and it runs great! C'mon hurricanes; I'm ready. 666

So glad the ultra sonic cleaner worked for you.  I bought one this summer & it was a tough pill to swallow as far as price goes but they work wonders.  Please let me know what you think of your vibra-tach.  I would feel horrible if it didn't meed your expectations since I recommended it.

Thanks
