Used Simplicity Broadmoor, should I or not?

Looking at a Simplicity Broadmoor 16hp, 2 cyclinder, 44"deck, 3yrs old with @500hrs use. Has had a new transmission put in, saying was a manufacturers defect. Likely for that year and model? He is asking $1800 also has a turbo dual bagger. I'm wondering what the book value is and any feedback regarding the machine for reliability, etc. I will be mowing 1 acre lawn and 1 acre field paths. Thanks

Sounds like more than $2000 off the price of a new one - not too bad and it has a new trans. They are a very nice mower - not really meant for a field though - if it is more like a pasture than it will probably be OK.
