GregB
Finally went to look at the 916H at the local farm store in the daylight. What a shame, the thing is rusty all over, dash cracked, the deck is bent, spindles loose, and worse it had one of the paint everything black (so it doesn't look used) paint jobs in the engine area. The worst part was the asking price $899. However the trip was not a complete loss. Drove about 15 miles further to visit an old Allis/Simplicity farm equipment dealership. You know the kind, been in business for 50 years, and never got rid of anything. Talked to the original owner and told him what I was looking for in a tractor. He showed me a 916H that he repowered with a Kohler 17hp twin. It also had what looked like a newer hydro unit, it had a filter on the left rear side. It has a 48 inch deck and the Hydro lift. The dealer used to service the tractor, took it on trade for a new Simplicity. Looks like it was cared for and stored inside. But no impliment lift. He wants $2200 for it. In order to get it, I need to sell my Cub Cadet 1440. Is there some kind of "blue book" for used lawn and garden equipment. I would like to have some idea of the value of the Cadet before I start the negotiating a trade deal. Any help or direction to search would be appreciated. Thanks Greg
BradW
There is a "Blue Book" for garden tractors, I cannot remember the website off the top of my head but I also think you would be able to order it at any big chain bookstore,-BradW
RayS
there`s a web site that tells the value of tractors, www.intertec.com, I never checked it out but seen it in the question asked section of simplicitys web site.
Guest
I looked at a 916H also this week at our local JD dealer in central Pa. Other than a few scratches on hood and grill area it was in pretty good shape. Good mower deck and hydralic lift. Every thing seemed to work good but it was hard to steer. They are asking $1700 for it. I was thinking about trading my 240 JD on it. Then I would have all AC.

Very clean tractor with few scratches and a new seat. $795 at a JD dealer. Just for comparision. Good Luck! Mike S.
