quantico
I have owned a sunstar snow blower for years and decided I really needed to get it going this year. I have never operated the used 42 inch single stage blower that I bought used a while ago. I have the hitch attached and the lift arm, but I can’t get the drive shaft to go more than about a quarter of an inch onto the shaft. I have tried spraying parts with brake cleaner and put new grease on the spline input and the output from the tractor. The two ball bearings that retract seem to be moving fine and I see no spline damage. Anybody have this problem ? I may try to clean the tractor spline with a Dremel wire brush , but it looks pretty good to me. The day has been difficult enough. I tried getting the lift arm attached and spent two hours trying to install it with the raised end towards the snow blower, the little bend in the lift rod was supposed to go up towards the blower according to the install instructions , but I had to flip the raised end to the lift shaft under the tractor. It installed that way and seems to raise and lower fine now. Anyone having solved the drive shaft connect problem let me know what you did please. I can move the screw on connection end down a bit to release the ball bearings ok. I have sprayed a lot of spray lube to try to get the drive shaft attached. The area your working in is just not easy to get any power in your hand, and the little hollow plastic safety tube makes any movement difficult. I have hooked up sunstar mowing decks without any issue. I don’t even see where the threads are to screw the driveshaft to lock it on.
