Carb problems

Recommended Posts

I have posted a lot of topics this week but this the last one for now.  My k361 that I recently swapped has been running erratic and starts to pop when at full throttle and ground speed.  I took the air cleaner cover off and throttled up and down and there is gas mixed spray out.  It acts like the choke is on but is l not.  The needles have been set to factory settings and the float is adjusted. The engine may be a little tuned up and the jet may have been drilled.  Does anybody know where to get a factory jet for the engine or would a k301 carb jet work? Any advise would help!

Clean and adjust the points first.  My K361 runs best with the points set at .017 vs. the recommended .020.  Then adjust the carb, the Kohler setting is just the starting point.

Also if there is a lot of slop in the throttle plate shaft it could be sucking in too much  air.

If you think it is getting too much fuel then turn in the main jet screw for high speed and the low speed screw for idle and low speed.  Even if they have been drilled out the screw will still close off the fuel  flow.

Thanks for replying to both topics. I'll try the points timing and play around more in the fuel screws.  Thanks a bunch, this helps a lot!

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
