Need help finding a v-belt for Simplicity 40" Two stage snowthrower

Howdy,

New member here that needs to find a source for a V-Belt to fit my 1997 Simplicity 40"Two Stage  Snow Thrower.attachment. It goes on my Broadmoor of the same vintage.

I've browsed a number of forums and referenced material all to no  avail. The part # is 1713712SM. I called eparts and was told they do not have it and I would have to call Simplicity. Can anyone cross reference this for me so that I can get it somewhere besides Simplicity?

If I have this posted in the wrong place I apologize.

Thanks!

Matt

The part number you listed is incorrect - it's for a belt guide.

I believe the correct belt number is listed with the snowblower hitch rather than the snowblower "head" parts manual.  If you have a mfg #1692040 or #1692041 hitch for your tractor (the hitch used for a single stage snowblower), then the belt part # is 1678241SM - a 139" HA belt.

Interesting! The MFG No for my thrower is 1693242.  I got the belt part number from eparts and confirmed it today with Simplicity who is of no help. They indicated they have not had it in stock since 2012. They did show it as a 40" belt. Thanks.

Bill, now that I think about it, I think the length Simplicity gave me (40" long) isn't right. . The length you mentioned sounds more like it. It's a pretty long long belt.

You're getting bad info.

Did you download the Simplicity Parts Manual(s) for your equipment?  IMO, they are the best reference rather than PartsTree, etc.

Notice the items circled in red ( IPLs from the mfg #1693242 Parts Manual):

In other manuals, this page is called "Hitch Support Group", not "Hitch Group";  leading to confusion:

As I said in my earlier post, the required belt is listed in the parts manual for your hitch, not the snow blower "head".  There should be a tag on the hitch similar to the tag on your snow blower.

Bill,

You are spot on!  My number on the hitch is 1692041. Same as yours.

Who do you like for a source for this belt (1678241sm)?

Thank you for helping me with this.

Matt

I usually get my belts from Simplicity or Kevlar belts from vbelts4less.com.

PS - Never used the hitch; I want the snow blower it was attached to.
