Counterweight With Hydro-lift?

I'm new to having a FDT with hydro-lift and have one now. For those of you who have ones with hydro and 3 speed transmission, do you use counterweights if you have an attachment on the front? I always did it to save my arm when I was snow plowing with the manual lift. I was just wondering if it would save some wear and tear on the hydro if I continued the practice with the hydro.

I do, but mainly just for more weight.  I'm sure it saves some stress on the system (while adding it to the rear lift cable) but I can't imagine it really hurts anything.

Hello,  I like having the counter weight , It allows the  snow blower to lower smoothly , not just drop hard .

I run those 50 lb rear wheel  weights  and 20 lbs on the rear lift

Thanks Ken in Mi

The snowthrower will float (ride over obstacles)  easier and not gouge into the gravel and lawn, with the counterweight.  The nice thing with the FDT is that you can still put down pressure on the thrower it needed.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
