MPH
Anyone who has restored one of the power max find a replacement for the inner gasket and the rear one on the hood? The rear one on mine is about 1inch short on each end. Think it sat out at 50 below to many winters..MPH
powermax_paul
MPH, Might try JCWhitney Catalog. They have a bunch of door/window gasket profiles for old cars. Paul

MPH
thanks Paul, not sure I got one of them anymore; Gave it a bath today, found most the cooling fins were about solid with dirty greese that looked to have started collecting about 29 years ago, two cans of gunk and lots of hot water it looks fit to touch, covered point box carb and coil with baggies and it fired right up when done..MPH
MPH
Thanks for all the info John, haven't looked for a pic of the battery cover in the manuals yet, I can see its importance, esp with a car size battery in it..MPH
Guest
MPH For my 720 I found that a Cub Cadet dealer had a part #723-3059, called a "seal-heat baffle" that fit under the hood to fit just across the back plate as the hood comes down and this blocks the air flow between the gas tank and the engine. I took off the old gasketing stuff that was stapled onto the lip under the hood and this gasket fit in it's place. It is about 19 inches long and about 1 inch deep and has metal tensioning clips molded in the rubber to keep it on. This would probably fit your 4040 in the middle but I have no idea about the rear gasket you mentioned. I hope this helped you part of the way. By the way the hold down rubber straps for the hood and the round rubber ring that fits around the oil filter can be ordered at Sandy Lake Imp. Also the all important battery cover can be picked up by contacting Jeff if he can still get them. John
