Allis312
I have a gearbox off an old 312D I parted. Its in pieces, but complete. Gears and shafts are 3/4''. Is this an oddball size? Most of the other BGB's I have seen had 7/8'' gears and shafts. Any ideas on what the complete box in parts might be worth? Shafts are good, one gear is chipped a bit, still useable. Bearings and seals still good. Thanks

Bill725
It is my understanding, Simplicity made (2) basic versions of the BGB, an early/smaller version, designed for smaller HP engines with less torque and a late/bigger version, for larger HP and more torque. If a gear tooth/teeth are chipped, I personally would replace both gears. Way too much work to remove and rebuild. It sounds like you have an early BGB. You can check eBay for pricing. FYI, new bearings and seals will run around $80 and both new gears around $220.
Allis312
I am not looking to rebuild it, just to sell the whole thing. But I am unsure on value to someone needing parts or wanting to rebuild. If I had access to the "whats it worth" forum I would post it in there, but I dont.
