Homelite rear generator 110v I missed it!

Of all of our customers that come through the door, I missed the one that just happened to have a 110v generator on the back of his tractor! Yes, I am pissed at myself. My sister waited on this guy and did not get his name, he only needed a belt to run it. I just hope he is a member of this sight and comes back again. I have never seen one of these things and would like to at least see one mounted on a tractor. I plan on making my own on the back of my 2012 restoration project. We have a bunch of Versatool generators left from the 1980's. They are only 500 watts, but they do have a 12v battery charging system on them. this makes them a little more usefull around the yard. Hope I get lucky next time and at least get to talk to the gentleman. Neal

Dutch - have you checked out the generator "head" from Northern? I want one of these and was going to buy from Grainger. I need to be absolutely sure that the unit I buy has a regular (straight) shaft for a pulley, and NOT the tapered shaft normally used on generator heads that are designed for close-coupled mounting to an engine. Have you looked into this Northern unit? Tom

Tom, I haven't physically examined any, but they're advertised as having belt driven "heads", so.......... You may want to contact Northern at [ http://www.northerntool.com/contactus/ ] to confirm, and ask about rotation. BTW, there are adapters available to convert a tapered shaft to straight if you already have a two bearing generator.
