Front engine shaft

It would depend upon what you are using it for.  The pic looks like a 700 series Allis?  If so, other than a front PTO, which you don't really need, I have never found a use for the front shaft on these.  Almost everything can be driven from the center PTO.  Beyond that, I would guess some type of bolt on pulley assembly would work for whatever you are trying to drive.

My 712S had the long-shaft engine, I thought because it drove the deck from it. The deck was junk so I scrapped it out. Didn't really pay attention to what was there.

I was going to repower it, but that idea didn't work out:

Might get it to fit in a 917/7117frame with the cut outs.  Some time ago a guy in York, Pa stuffed and Air Cooled VW Engine into one.

I believe those shaftless engines were a Gravely spec. You would have to find out if the Gravely machines used anything on that stub, and if so just what and how it was driven.

You could conceivably have a machine shop machine a threaded snout, use some green stud-lock, and spin it in good and tight. Then you'd have a front shaft. It kind of depends on how large the threaded hole is though as to how strong it would be.

Gary anything will fit with a little modification , sure would be an interesting build

The problem with the Gold Wing engine is the output shaft turns the opposite direction.
And, with past experience, another problem is getting enough speed out of it to run normal tractor speeds. You have to go through the tractor tranny to get reverse. I figured 5000 RPM in 5th gear would give me 3600 RPM on the output. IOW: In low / low at idle, you'd have to set stakes to see if it was moving!
I actually had the engine sitting in a 314 Deere and was getting excited. It was then I discovered the reverse rotation.

Crawl forward and snap your neck in reverse? SO if you turned the seat around like some of the front deck mowers with the steering in the rear it would be right?

May have figured out the threaded hole in my front shaft. Saw an engine today and the alternator was bolted to the front of the engine case facing the engine and the shaft was threaded into the crankshaft.
