Briggs & Stratton display

I picked this up today at an auction.  Neat find, but our area lost another small family owned L&G dealership.  Cox's Sales and Service in Scottville, MI has called it quits.  They were a Snapper/ECHO dealer.   I had heard a while back they were considering closing up. They had been around a long time.   Thursday night I came across an auction notice so a buddy went up there with me today to check things out.  I had seen on the auction website a pretty neat 1970's or older Briggs 2x2' 2 sided lighted sign that would be pretty cool for the garage, so I wanted to see if I could get it.  We got there early and checked out the stuff in the freezing rain/sleet/snow.  Nice day here in mid-west MI....     I didn't get the sign - went for $255.00!    Then I missed out on another item that wasn't shown on the auction website.  A neat 1970's Kohler wall clock - about 18" square.  I got mixed up with bidding, and it was actually to another guy, not me.  Kinda mad at myself for loosing track of the bidding....  It only sold for $30.00 - I would have paid more......  Anyway, this Briggs display was only $15.00! It was still up in the showroom area.   It will go in my basement tractor room and I can finally put my Briggs books/literature out on it.  More pics tomorrow or so when I can get some help to carry it down to the basement and get it filled up with stuff.

Got it cleaned up and in the tractor room.  Now to sort through some of my Briggs memorabilia and books to put on the display.  It even came with a packet of the out of stock tags.

I was digging through my boxes of Briggs stuff to fill up the shelves.  Found this sales brochure from probably 1963 or so?  When did the 6 digit iron model numbers start? The iron engines were still lettered, and the 7hp aluminum vertical wasn't out yet.  The best part is the tractor on the cover.  I will need to take the brochure out of the binder sometime and get it flattened out and scan it.

Based on the Landlord Reference Engine List, 1966:

I finally have the shelf filled up with my Briggs stuff.  Some of the binders still need better organization and to have the pages put into sheet protectors, but at least I have my stuff out of boxes and on display now.  It is a variety of stuff I have collected over the years. There is service, parts, sales and training literature/information.  Some is from auctions or tractor shows/swaps over the years, some is from a dealer I used to work for that is gone now, some is from the Briggs schools/updates I have attended since the late '90's and other swag from attending the schools and achieving the MST and MPP status.  Stuff dates from the late 1950's up to current.

Now I need to find a Simplicity branded display like this to put up my Simplicity stuff that is currently on a plain shelf or still boxed up with no place to put it.

Looks great.

But it looks like you could use another Briggs display rack for future items.
