? about bevel gear box

Where is the oil level supposed to be on the bevel gear box? The top plug has a breather on top and what looks to be a roll pin pressed into the bottom ...kinda like a dip stick. Is this a dip stick or just part of the breather apporatus? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. TY..Marc

The gear oil should be just touching the bottom of the roll pin with the plug screwed in . Cal
