Air Conditioner Pump

Here's an interesting thought, curious if anyone has used or converted an air conditioner pump for light duty hydraulic use, A-United the largest scrap yards in BC were using the York piston pumps for air compressors on their yard trucks.

Pressure regulator running off of 12 volts controlled the magnetic clutch, on the compressor air intake a tin can affixed that held an oiled rag to lubricate the compressor.

My dad used and old refrigerator compressor for an air compressor.  Plumbed and mounted on a 20 gal tank, never added any lube to the compressor.   Thats what he used for 30 years.  Not real fast and max psi was about 80.  But very nice and quiet.
