big 10 voltage regulator help

Does the voltage regulator need to be grounded with a wire?  I have one wire to f post on gen (labelled e on regulator) one wire from back of regulator to power post on starter. And one wire ( labelled bat, middle top terminal, wire not hooked up in picture) to go back to meter.  There is a forth post on regulator labelled L, is this a ground?

The L terminal is for lights. You would run that to the switch than to the lights if you have them.

The regulator doesn't have to be grounded with a wire, it just gets ground from the mounting bracket.
