Charlieson 0 Posted April 13, 2002 Any suggestions on the differential reassembly for a 3212V?
BillC 0 Posted April 13, 2002 The Simplicity "Large Frame Garden Tractors Service & Repair Manual" has a Rear Wheels, Differential and Axle section. In the differential section it describes the removal, disassembly, assembly and installation. The manual is available from Simplicity publications. The manual covers all of the large frame (bevel gearbox) garden tractors from the 700 Wonderboy through the 2000 Sovereign and describes every service and repair procedure for the tractor with the exception of the engine. The engine service and repair manuals are available from the engine manufacturer. If you intend to keep and work on your tractor for a while, the manual is well worth the investment. MPH 12 Posted April 13, 2002 Lube it well and use new keys if the gears are all good. If yours has springs in it instead of spacers use a couple longer bolts to get it started..MPH
thedaddycat 153 Posted April 13, 2002 I also recommend getting the Parts Manual so you can have the part numbers.... I used three clamps for both disassembly and reassembly, mine has springs. I needed to use a screwdriver to get some of the pinions rotated right so they would mate properly. If your axle tube does not have grease nipples installed between the axle shaft bushings(three sets total counting the right end hub assembly) now is the time to put them in, before you put the axle shaft in. That way you can clean everything out good and have fresh grease.
