So, I was out mowing the other day, and just parked the Sunstar on the driveway while I finished trimming and whatnot. After that, I started her up and pulled it into the garage. After I shut it down, I heard the unmistakable sound of fluid pouring on concrete. As you know, that's usually not good. So get up and look, and see oil pouring on the ground. I knew immediately what had happened. The previous owner had put a drain hose on the oil pan for easier oil changes. It was long. Long enough to touch the ground. Well, it had fallen out of its place and got caught on something (not sure what) and ripped the hose out. It was one of those things I kept meaning to address, but never got around to. Luckily, no engine damage. It must have happened right inside the garage since there was only a small trail of oil from the garage door and most of the oil came out where I parked it. None on the driveway. Thankfully it didn't happen mid-mow, because I may not have noticed in time. So now I gotta figure out a better drain setup. I haven't had time to look, since I had some floor cleaning to do, but hopefully it didn't damage the sump. Hopefully it just ripped the hose. Still don't know where the old hose went. I was too concerned with getting it pushed out of the garage and getting oil mats under it. Moral of the story: Those of you with drain hoses, make sure they are secure!  xD

Good to know it didn't do any damage dOd

Yeah. Super lucky. That Magnum runs so beautifully, I'd hate to lose it.

Update:

Good news!  No sump damage. It the hose was on a barber fitting screwed into a frighteningly loose pipe fitting. Tightened up the fitting, and will just remove the barber fitting in favor of a pipe plug to avoid future issues.

I had the same setup on my Sunstar and I plugged up the drain port and junked the hose. I use an oil extractor from Harbor Freight for all my oil changes and I'm very pleased with it. No mess and it hold six gallons of oil.

Yeah. I should look into getting one of those.
