Tried to lift a 3.0 v6 with the blade but no go, so I run around the drive with the blade on, kinda hard on the right brake as I only have one chain. sure like the turning radius, WOW..MPH http://a6.cpimg.com/image/10/C6/9537296-a442-028001E0-.jpg

Look'n good Marty! That 4040 looks to be in pretty nice shape. Did you solve the RPM problem? Remember this is only your first of many Powermax tractors. Paul

I have two now. Drove the 720 around a little. Waiting on parts to commence with the repairs. Wheres a good place to get a regulator for the CCKB in the 720??? Got everything else located, I think. MPH, Seeing youres running is making me ancy to get at least one of mine done. Need to mow with it in the next two weeks before it gets too tall where I need it. Congrats, Sam

Good job, Marty. It does look to be in pretty decent shape. You even have the angle lever for the front blade - haven't seen one of those in a while. Did you get a mower with it also? These tractors are great mowers! When does the mowing season start up there? July? ;o) Jeff

Marty, By the way, how do you like having individual brakes? Great for plowing snow and turning a tight radius, eh? Paul

Thanks for the complyments guys, my rust control job on the hood after getting the hinge brackets welded back in place got a little carried away, couldn't find anything remotely close to the ivory or whatever Simplicity used. While waiting for my new switch dicided to control the rust on the dash also. No matter how I adjust the springs and throttle control rod I can only get 1500 rpm difference between slow and fast. If I set the rod length as long as possible and still have plenty of slow direction travel in the gov arm it'll idle at 2100 but rev up to 3600, for now I settled on 1400 to 2900. Hope that is what makes the hydro lift kinda slow. Oh, should it be able to lift the front tires off the ground with down pressure? it can't..All I got with it was the blade. Mowing season starts end of May or June here, this year it be Aug, real retarded April so far. I LOVE them brkes Paul, just like a real tractor, with one chain I think I can push more snow with a shovel, cept I can't find one anymore..later MPH

Marty , 4040 looks good, two brakes makes ya almost want to though the steering wheel away huh. I cut down a set of 15", "ice", car chains for my 312, work great, tare the hell out of the drive, but, real easy to do. 86 here today 82 yesterday, opened the pool, thought about takin the blade off the 312, -----but this is still April.

Marty, Your 4040 would look much better here in the sunny South although I will admit the white background does make it stand out. Good work. Roy

The 14 inch car tire chains I have are too short and to narrow. Think I have a pair of 20in truck chains around the place but not sure which snow pile to dig into..MPH

Peter, yea, the 4040's have separate rear brake and I sure do like 'em..All these nice things said about the way she looks makes me feel I should have got the new decals I saw on the for sale adds. My van job wound up and cost me deeper than pocket change so hobbies got shorted. thanks guys MPH

Marty: Now I'm even more jealous of your 4040 deal than I was before--looks great! Do the 4040's all have separate rear brakes? Great trac., great pics. Peter

Marty, He man, be like me--cheap, 'er, "Scottish" Yeah, that's it! (I actually am part Scottish). With a piece of equipment I've obtained to work with, like my daily driver F-150 ($500.00, thank you very much) it's what you DON'T spend that becomes impressive. Of course, Dutch has elevated this to an art form, in that he gets the pieces given to him "gratis." That is some mean mojo. If I get something free, generally it's because it was by the curb, like my recently acquired and smooth-running Toro...but that's another post. Also much less stress involved...some times a "just do the maintenance and pass the amunition" approach is actually preferable. Just my 2 rupee.
