Allis Chalmers 917 Hydro

About a month ago I purchased a Allis Chalmers 917 for $300 that came with a 42 inch deck(no blades, but brand new belts), it has the Kohler KT 17 series II motor instead of the series I motor. Its an early 917 because no bushing next to the lift handle. I have already added a fuel tank, seat, air filter housing. She will be getting a paint job, another 23x10.50-12 tire(came with a original tire and rim, but had a 8.50 tire and on it), muffler(currently looking for one) other than that its in good shape.

Very nice!  I like the Allis Chalmers banner in the background too.  I got a wheel horse lawn & garden tractors banner for my father to put in his tractor shed, for Father's Day.

Here your guys! After a few weeks, I finished painting the tractor. I took off the oil filter and went ahead and added the block in place of the filter. I still need to find a seat for it yet and hopeful find a electric lift for it. I already have the wiring harness for it. Just need the motor, mounting bracket and pointer. I wasn't proud of the primer I was using. It's pretty easy to scratch the paint as I found out. I feel the AGCO primer is way better. I think I'm going to save the 42 inch deck for a 916 that I'm going to be getting, so I am going to use the spare 48 inch deck that I have.  Check out the photos and see what you think!

Go ahead and use it.  I've put around 100 hours on mine and am glad to be using it.  They're built like a tank.

Wow, really nice looking tractor. I'll bet you'll get a lot of use out of it.

Nice job it looks great.  I really like the Alice Chalmers look , I’ve done a couple 7116’s but I can never seem to find a 900 series...?

FYI,  my TSC store started carrying the mid height tractor seats with a metal housing, (which is nice for applying the decals)

awesome tractor!

Thank you very much! I will have to go on TSC and see what I can find! I know down the road here, I will be getting a Allis Chalmers 916. It's a payment for rebuilding a motor.

Thanks guy for the feedback, I really try my best at restoring my tractors! I think next year its going to be my Deutz Allis 1920.

That paint job looks really nice. What paint did you use? The color looks correct, but my local NAPA store didn't have the code for the color, so I used Simplicity paint bought through Briggs and Stratton and I didn't like it.

Ryan, you really know how to bring a tractor back to life! Nice job and quick too. I have a 910 stuffed back in the basement I bought not running and I really need to get it out. Those machines are beauties.

Richard, I only use one kind of paint. It is the Agco paint, in my case for my Allis tractors I used Corporate Orange. I also put hardener in the paint after I put it in my gun. Your local Agco dealer will have it!

Speaking of a Allis 910, here is one that I use to own. It was a Simplicity 7110.
