Tractor Bunker...new house

After 6 years at our place, the wife and I decided we needed a long term spot for the kids. Mostly, a school district change and increased space for the boys to roam.

The old house had a 24x32 second garage which you all have seen me stack/stuff my collection into. It worked but was snug. When it was time to wrench, I would have to move machines to the main garage and kick the cars outside.  The new place has slightly more room and I have been purging  a lot of items to free up space. A separate workshop off the upper level garage will house anything non-tractor related, larger tools, etc that I had to store in the tractor shed before.

I will keep about 200 sq ft open for a workspace in what my wife calls the “Tractor Bunker”.  It is a lower-level, second garage, below a 3-stall upper level garage.

I haven't had a lot of time downstairs, since we moved in, in August, but it's getting there.  With ducting built in for piping in heat or AC, I am glad to have a comfortable workspace and the option to have a clean, dry storage/display area.

Pictures show empty through current.  It has access from outdoors, the basement rec room and via stairway from the upper level garage.  It has water, drain, 220, gas for aux heat, and of course, the vents to open up to the house climate control.

Lower level, garage side of the basement.  The boy's rooms are not pictured, and opposite the lower garage.  It's tough to keep the noise down when they are in bed...but we will get used to the new arrangement.

My 'for sale' pile...most of which has sold and been dispersed by now.

It was a long, dry summer here, but the lawn held up well enough to take on stripes from the XL.  It's about a 2 hour mowing job.  I love every minute, because with moving and renovations, it's the only time I get to sit down!

And, right now I'm painting cabinetry down there...It is staying a cool 65 degrees, and DRY.  The cabinet fronts are in primer here, and I stole some time away to finally hang a few signs with special masonry hangars I found at Menards.  The XL and 616 are relaxing in the upstairs garage in the mean time.  My phone sounds like a rock concert down here in the bunker while I paint...

Oddball question but is that an actual floor drain?

Yes!  The previous owners built the home, and there is a lot of very cool features that I am loving.  We are very near to a lake, and they had Seadoo's for years that were parked downstairs.  The drain was in anticipation of draining them.

Nice. The forklift is just the right size for that room.

I had to measure, actually, but it clears the top of the mast at full height.  I have to be careful when lifting the small frames, so as not to scuff the steering wheels on the ceiling.  The lights are the main concern...

It will take discipline to maintain without adding an additional building where those stripes currently reside.

Very nice Josh.

I have sold so much already...and there is more always coming in it seems.  What I have sold, is slowly filling a mayonnaise jar out in the yard, with a shed fund.  I would really like to get the XL along with cab, broom, blower and blade, out in it's own shed.  12x20....

I think you meant 26'x36'...

Wouldn't that be nice.  Just round it off to a nice 40x60 and call it a day.

Very nice house and property with lots of space to mess around. You could grow a big patch of sweet corn back there!

I'm going to show these pictures to my wife...I'll tell her "see, I don't have nearly the tractor problem some guys have"

Josh; I like your new setup. How far did you move from the old house?

Only about 10 minutes East

Got a few more signs up and one of my large lighted signs is staged to hang.  Gave me an excuse to pull some of the machines out for some sun and joyrides.  I would up cleaning up my AC cart and a Simplicity cart i snagged yesterday at a garage sale.

I still have quite a bit of work to do, to find homes for everything still waiting in the rec room.

I had a new to me HB-212 show up Saturday and so I took it for a slon moving my Snowco trailer with the FDT front/rear ball hitch.  👍👍

The boys are getting big fast.

They sure are! Those are the younger two! The oldest one is already getting too cool for dad.
