Deutz 1920 Repower FINISHED!

For the past few years I had been kicking around repowering the Deutz 1920. This summer my old Kohler Magnum finally gave up the ghost and a repower was in order. Purchased a new CH640-3126 engine and the project was under way. Had to drill new holes to relocate the motor on my mounting plate. Also had to purchase the driveshaft from a Sunstar with a Command as the original shaft was an inch too short.

After this was done, had to replumb the fuel line as well as install a longer choke cable. Additionally, I had to purchase a new PTO clutch as it is different from a Command to a Magnum. All said and done, I am pretty pleased with the results. When cutting, I don't feel like this tractor will ever run out of power!

1 hour down on the clock and hoping for many more.

If anyone has any questions about the repower process, please don't hesitate to ask. IMG_20180916_193526.thumb.jpg.1423e611e01d5d9d57f4a941e5099fe6.jpg

Correct. I had a inkling to install a 27hp EFI command, but I didnt want to throw an extra 7hp at a 30yr old hydro. So I got the spec number from a friend with a Sunstar Command and got the corresponding motor.

Technically its rated at 20.5hp
