I brought home this 725.from the monmouth auction yesterday.  I usually spend about $60 at these consignment sales. Sometimes I get a whole truckload for that , sometimes just a couple of things.  This time $45 got me this tractor and another 16.50 got me 6 new trailer tires.

As you can see rust has eaten the shell up pretty much. Been sitting so long over bare dirt in a shed or barn  that the spindles are all locked up tight.

Surely  some parts to save off it,  but I would like to find a nice original 32" deck  for this tractor.

Everything around the tranny and BGB seems to be decent. Gear box seems fairly tight. Trannmission goes into all the gears easy. Differential seems to work. Seal around one axle is a little wet.

Somone used pins to put the seat deck on. Seat deck is in pretty decent shape. A few minor cracks in the usuual places. Fenders can be straightened up pretty easy. Need a new seat pad.

Still has the original choke control which usually goes missing

Grill is pretty much beyond salvaging, and the chrome hood plates are missing.

Looks like someone rebuilt the charging/starting system shortly before it was parked. New pully on the st/gen along with a new nut, new belt, and a fairly new regulator. clean paint and no grime  on the st/gen makes me think its been overhauled too. We will have to see....

8hp replacement engine. Not blown up, but appears to have a blown head gasket. Couldnt venture a guess as to whether its a smoker or not at this point.

Driveshaft couplers have been replaced with the newer and better fiberglass discs, albeit the washers /spacers are improperly installed.

Gas tank is messed up. I think a Yeoman gas tank is close to the same thing if I remember right.

Hole for the headlight is still fairly decent. a small crack, but not bad. I have a factory plug for it somewhere around here....

Worst repair to have to make is this one. Never seen one of these broke all the way across before like this.

Should be able to have some fun with this in the coming months.  At one time I wanted to do a hydro conversion on one of these, but alas I am fresh out of hydro trannie and control linkages. Besides, I need one gear drive ancient tractor in the collection to play with..

Congrats on the buy! Almost looks like someone cut that tunnel cover.

Its not a clean break. I have seen them cracked on both sides before, but never completely broke off across the top like this...til now

Update: On a closer look, you might be right. Looks like it could be a sawzall cut. Could be that when the updated the couplers they didnt want to remove the whole dash assembly ????sm00

How much did the 900 go for that you were hoping to pick up?  Or did that turn out to be a project you didn't want to mess with?
