Legacy XL Questions

Recommended Posts

Started using the loader, just getting used to the beast.

Also started reading posts to glean some info on the "improvements" that can be done.

What lift capacity is the bucket rated to handle?

Read about a pressure increase in the hydro to increase operating pressure of the hydraulics, anyone have a link to a how to do it post somewhere?

I picked up a set of clamp on type pallet forks ~$130 for the pair and stabilized bar. That was quickest, but like to have a bucket replacement type in the future.

Started to look at attachments, some out there but anyone have an Idea what typical pricing is for Blower, Front blade, etc?

Did some searching on the web, found a post about shimming the pump.

Josh, when you shimmed yours, what did you use for a gage?  Did you go into the quick connect or ?

Did you have your pallet forks made, custom built, or buy for something else and modify?

Greg, bought a hydro gauge off Amazon, and used one of the male connectors off one of my implements to simply plug into the port up front.  Hit the joystick the direction needed for that coupler, and whammo..you will see your max pressure.  It will go up with engine RPM, so I tested it at WOT for max pressure on the system.  However, I use my loader at idle mostly, and sometimes at mid range if the weight gets up there.  I have rarely needed full pressure (1300psi on mine after shims) to lift a load, but recently did for moving boxes of laminate flooring from a skid in my garage to my walkout basement door.

I made 3 trips @ 660lbs each, plus a pallet, on my forks (my fork setup weights about 40lbs more than the bucket).  It handled that fine, but only to about 3' at mid range rpm.  To get to full height I had to run WOT, and it barely got there.  I figure the load on the forks was about 700lbs.  I don't like that type of load at all, but it was a chance to test a known weight.  The tractor becomes a real bear to operate.  Even with 8 suitcase weights (340+lb) on a carrier, on the 3pt, plus a set of powermax wheel weights (130lbs), I had to use 4x4 just to get going (rear wheel spin).  It's not practical and to me, abusive to the machine.

I grabbed 40" forks locally off craigslist ($75) and bought carriage bars off ebay for about $100.  I used 3" angle and welded that up to the bars.  I'm no fabricator, but it works beyond the capability of the machine.  The forks are gross overkill, and I would love to have them half as heavy.

Im wanting to shim my pump as well. In due time i will. I also bought clamp on forks with stabilizer bar. I have yet to use the stabilizer but what I do is lay a piece of channel iron across the floor of the bucket where the clamps tighten down to distribute the load and not dent the bucket. I did the same as josh with the gauge. Both my xls were at 900 psi full throttle.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
