5212.5 Throttle Question

Hi All,

I've been able to get this Craigslist 5212.5 running and mowing, but I'm wondering if anyone can advise what might be wrong with the throttle.  The RPMs barely change as I move it between "rabbit" and "turtle".  It may be hard to actually see in this video, but the governor linkage moves throughout the motion of the throttle lever, but the lever on the carb only moves in maybe the last inch of movement as the lever gets down to "turtle".  You can hear a little click in the linkage as this part moves.  It looks like all the pieces are there, but I'm wondering if something is missing that im not seeing or adjusted incorrectly by the previous owner.  Any ideas?

First make sure you're getting plenty of fuel. Once you've determined that check to see if the butterfly in the throat of the carb is moving. This should get you started. If this all checks out then it would have to be inside the carb.

Belated thanks to SPI for the above reply.     Closing out an old thread issue here.

I had been just ignoring this issue and continuing to use the tractor, but recently noticed in a parts diagram that I was missing a gasket.  I added the missing  gasket that goes between the air filter box and the carb and now the throttle works great.   This also has resolved issues with flooding after stopping and trying to restart the engine.    Sharing here in case anyone else hits this.   Thanks!
