Be sure to check the positive traction differential, on the RH axle. If it cracks and pops on startup or on a sharp turn, it will need attention. Also, if it an old-style tractor with the 4 small headlights, make sure they all work. The bulbs are quite expensive. Check the front suspension pivot points too. If they get sloppy all the slack will show up at the steering wheel.

I am going to look at a 712H (old style) Friday. Other than the obvious things (engine, hydro) what should i look for, and are there any problems with this model? Thanks in advance for your input. I currently own a 410S but it needs an engine transplant. Other than that it's in great shape.
