My understanding is that the main difference is that the overall length (wheelbase) is longer for the 71xx series, than the older 70xx series. For the A/C cousins, the 9xx series is longer than the older 7xx series.

The 7000 series was manufactured from about 1975-1977, when in '77-'78 they transitioned to the 7100 series.  It was the final rendition of the Sovereigns. It stayed basically the same with a few minor modifications and tweaks, up until the retirement of the line in 2000.  It is longer as David said, and you sit a little higher on the 7100.  The 7100 was the first of the running board tractors to offer the hydraulic lift. It came, as did the 7000 series, with different engine, transmission, lift (manual, electric and hydraulic) and other options, up until the GTH-L moniker.  At that time (about 1989-90 I believe?) the 7100 series as it was manufactured changed into a single platform; they all came with hydro drive, a hydro lift, and a single engine option, KT-17 on the GTH-L and then the Triad and then the Command moving forward.   The only option, I believe available after that was the power steering option.  In the early to mid 90's they changed the hood slightly and the headlight configurations but the basic frame and assembly remained the same.  Not bad when you think they made a 23 year run on that final platform, and many of them are still working hard today (my main tractor is an 1983 and still works year round)

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
