broken rear axle housing

Recommended Posts

I have a broken right rear axle housing on a 718h allis. Could anyone tell me what too expect if I start to tear it apart, or if I should try to replace it? I am a millrite by trade and think I can rebuild it. I would just like to know what to expect. Also where can I get a service manual for a 718h model? I can be reached at lamb1@mtco.com. All imfo would be axcepted with joy(except bad news). thanks DarrellL

The housing is cast iron, and if it is cracked or broke you probably need a replacement. I cannot picture any way to break the housing unless you broke and axle tube. The needle bearing and seal will probably be shot. But more than likely everything else is OK. Be careful when taking apart as there are spacer washers and must go back in the correct order. Good Luck! Mike S.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁

It's in pretty sad shape, but yes I have a yellow plastic cap that I'm fairly certain is what you need. PM me your details and I'll get it out to you.
