PECO Vac - did Ariens have a twin?

Recommended Posts

I almost forgot about this.  A couple weeks ago I got sidetracked into some leaf bagging stuff, and came across this.  An Ariens 834012 bagger system sure looks a lot like the PECO mounted vac for our 7000/7100 tractors.  Does anyone have any hands on experience with these or access to Ariens info or literature that would confirm similarities?  Seems like a lot of the parts for the Simplicity version of the PECO vac are NLA, and I wonder if they are the same or share parts and if Ariens still stocks them?

Pretty sure that Peco built them for multiple tractor manufacturers. Some were pto driven off the tractors while others carried their own engines to power them. There is a Peco brochure in Kents donated literature . I will dig the brochure out and see if I can scan some pictures when I get a moment.

Literature is copyrighted, so wont be posting it.

It does show pictures of peco units on quite a variety of tractors including Simplicity, Deere, Cub Cadet, Murray and a number of others.  All pictured were engine powered save for the Simplicity and Cub Cadet(782 style) which show pto driven units.

The Cub cadet one has the blower mounted on the opposite side from Simplicity and uses a series of guide pullies to run a belt of the tractors optional rear pto setup.

Likely they made pto driven units for any Garden tractor that had a viable rear pto setup.

I've seen this with a few of the machines that come in for parts and service where many things were made for multiple units but from one main manufacturer like how MTD is Cub is ect. Plus, Ariens still has many of the larger parts, the bag for example is still available right from Ariens themselves, that part number being 03087700

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
