Large frame Gas tanks

Walked into the tractor garage today to be greeted with the stink of gasoline.

The tank in the soon to be sold 917 was leaking around the bushing on the bottom where the fuel line runs to the carb.

 

So rather than dealing with the wet tank, I grabbed a dry one off the shelf.  Pushed in a new bushing in that tank, and reinstalled the tank.

Now the rubber band tank hold downs are loose by at least an inch.

 

Are the 7000 series and 7100 series tanks really different in height?

They are the same height. The difference is that the 7100's have a taller filler neck to clear the hood.
