2 4040 questions

love my simp 4040, but, the fuel pump still leaks after a rebuild kit any ideas ? also the engine gas up while running for a while, if i idle it down and wait a bit it seems to straighten out and runs fine again. can't prove that it is too much gas in the mower deck, seems to blow a lot of black smoke as it settles back down, any ideas ?

Jon it would appear that the carb is running to rich .....at may need adjusting or the float is sticking.....I would suggest a new spark plug then adjust the carb....good luck Jim

thanks, i really never thought that way, i was thinking timing or governor .
