I'm considering buying a Simplicity 6216 to care for the the 1 acre property that I just acquired.  Are parts still available for this model?  Is it regarded as a decent tractor?  Is it a true Garden tractor, or more of a lawn tractor?  It has a 60" deck on it and is priced at $600 asking price.  Any thoughts or advice on this model?

                               Thanks in advance guys,

I believe that is a vertical shaft engine. I think of it as more of a lawn tractor and the horizontal shafts as a garden tractor. It will do a fine job cutting grass, but seems overpriced to me. I think half that is more like it. For that money you can do much better. And yes, you can still get parts.

6216 is my winter tractor, and a very good machine.  Being about 35 years old things do wear out, and some maintenance is required.  Most parts are able to be found, and keeping ontop of things, for all tractors, is a big help to length of life.  A bit of a tweener, as will blow snow, cut grass, will till, and use a plow.  You will get a strong right arm lifting things, but worked for me.  Depending upon your location, and tractor condition, might be a bit high, as around WI closer to $500-$400.

Best of luck.
