geezer 0 Posted April 28, 2002 hello all. i have a sovereign 3212H and found that the cyl rod is bent and lifts very hard at first then smooths out. can it be replaced with a new one same length but to handle more weight?(larger rod size) the bore is 1.5" length is 12"(pineye to pineye closed). and rod size is .5". i put a gauge on the pump and found it to put out 1,100psi at idle not sure how much more at 3600rpm's. any and all info would be great. matt johnson
HubbardRA 20 Posted April 29, 2002 Collapsed length and stroke must match. You can go to larger diameter if you have the clearance. This will give you a larger rod and more lifting force, but will slow down the speed of the lifting motion. It will probably use larger pins so some drilling or bushings will probably be needed. You may wish to get a catalog from a company called "Surplus Center" Ph: 1-800-488-3407. They have a very wide variety of hydraulic cylinders at pretty decent prices. Rod H.
