Dipstick tube gasket or o-ring

I have a Briggs 16HP opposed twin that has a plastic dipstick tube that's leaking at the bottom where it enters the block. It looks like there was a gasket or maybe Permatex RTV sealant on it that's now deteriorated. Is there a rubber seal that is supposed to go in there? Maybe a nitrile o-ring?  I'd imagine most vanguards are set up similar. What are you using?

There should be an o ring on the tube that seals in the block when the tube is inserted. It goes into the block about 3/8 to 1/2 in.

That is an easily replacable seal. Pull the plastic housing out, work the old seal out, and push in a new one. They should be available from any small parts sales counter

I didn't see an o-ring or even a groove to secure one so today I checked outside of the garage, with my glasses ON! You're right of course, there is an o-ring or seal there. The one that's on there is a flat seal and doesn't sit proud on the tube which or course is why it leaked. I'll do some checking and see if I can locate a part number or suitable replacement. Thank you!
