GardenTrACtorguy Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 When the variable speed on a b112 is adjusted properly should the belt stop almost immediately when depressing the clutch? Also if adjusted properly can you clutch the variable speed when it is in a different range other than high (7)? Thanks in advanced.
Brettw Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) I am not completely versed on this, but I believe the belt should stop relatively quickly as the brake should also engage. I don't believe you can adjust the variable unless you are in motion, or neutral with the clutch engaged. Edited May 11, 2019 by Brettw 1
kwt Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 The variable on my grading tractor likes to be about half way through it's range if I want to make sure that shifting is smooth. I've had others that worked good in all ranges, and I'm not sure what the differences are. I notice that if I don't spend any time between gears, shifting is better too. I've got a feeling that the factory adjustments work better when you have new parts. All my belts are old and very flexible. I kind of wish that Simp would have just put a little brake shoe on an arm to lightly push against the inside rear shiv between it and the transmission. Like a snowmobile of the same vintage. A positive stop.
