Variable drive conversion

Recommended Posts

Has anyone converted a variable speed pulley system to new single pulleys eliminating the two variable moving pulleys. If so what size pulleys have to be used and how hard is it to convert. What size width belt can be used. Thanks

I don't see the point of doing that. You already have the pulleys and belt....if you don't want the variable just lock it into a fixed position. The variable sheaves can be welded so they act like single pulleys and don't rattle.

I converted one for pulling, 5" drive and 7" driven, changed the idler pulley to a v-pulley.  For a working tractor I would recommend a 4.5" drive and 8" driven.  Easy conversion, need spacer on drive pulley to get correct alignment with idler pulley.
