Got this from the son of the original owner...who was a WWII vet who lost his right leg in the war...he ordered the tractor with the pedal on the left side

Cool history...didn't know Simplicity would do a "Special order" like that. Great PR for sure.

Thank you for the nice comments...having trouble starting and  keeping it running now...I took out the fuel tank and washed it out, changed the fuel line, cleaned out the carb (previous owner had run the fuel out when he parked it several years ago, so it was not bad ) ..I suspect valve adjustment but can't find the specs...it is a B & S  model   191701  engine...I find the spec for 191700....would it possibly be the same?

Sure a good looking 728, for sure! Mine, though not so much. Been in the family for nearly 50 years! It's on its 3rd engine. Dad bought it new. I also have the original brochure, and owner's manual that's in the clear plastic bag. Haha, like the TV show American Pickers... It has plenty of patina!
