MARK (LI) Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Got this from the son of the original owner...who was a WWII vet who lost his right leg in the war...he ordered the tractor with the pedal on the left side 8
fishnwiz Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) Cool history...didn't know Simplicity would do a "Special order" like that. Great PR for sure. THANKS FOR SHARING Edited June 19, 2019 by fishnwiz 3
720nut Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 nice, never understood why they put the pedal on the right anyway
simplewrench Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Very cool. I always love a tractor with a story. 1
MARK (LI) Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 (edited) Thank you for the nice comments...having trouble starting and keeping it running now...I took out the fuel tank and washed it out, changed the fuel line, cleaned out the carb (previous owner had run the fuel out when he parked it several years ago, so it was not bad ) ..I suspect valve adjustment but can't find the specs...it is a B & S model 191701 engine...I find the spec for 191700....would it possibly be the same? jdwilson Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Sure a good looking 728, for sure! Mine, though not so much. Been in the family for nearly 50 years! It's on its 3rd engine. Dad bought it new. I also have the original brochure, and owner's manual that's in the clear plastic bag. Haha, like the TV show American Pickers... It has plenty of patina! 2
