Collection problems

I finally tried out the collection system that came with the 6516 yesterday. I got one load in before the dew set in and shut me down. I tried again this afternoon and it was far too wet yet at 1:30. Oh well I'll drop it and mow normal to get it done. I had one strip left when the transmission belt let go. :$

But wait, I remembered a belt came with it, surely not. Yep, genuine Simplicity belt! Did you know that belt requires three things to be unbolted to replace it? Yikes! I miss my 900 series.  Now time to clean, adjust, and sharpen the blades while the deck's out. Oh yeah, and did I mention it now only fires on one cylinder? Guess it needs a coil too. wah Such fun.

I did like the collection system, looking forward to using it again when it's dry.

Hard to go back to the vertical series after having had the Sovereign tractors. They're just so much easier to work on.

I have to agree with Chris.  As nice as the 6000 series cuts grass & steers so tight, it was a huge pain to change the drive belt.  The blessing is you shouldn't have to change it for a very long time again.  If I remember correctly, I think I flipped the transmission pulley around to allow more room to access the set screw & slide it for removal?.?  But that was over 20 years ago.

I can pretty much guarantee this cat ain't changing that belt again! I rarely own them for very long and being a genuine Simplicity belt it will last.

Next operation is to check out the dead cylinder. Danged thing mows pretty good on one cylinder, can't imagine I won't be impressed with two firing properly! I doubt I'm lucky enough to have a coil in inventory for it.

I got a 1979 Ford F250 with a massaged 351. The other day it felt like I dropped a cyl. Romped on it and thought maybe not. Bring down to low rpm and definitely feel the lost cylinder. Open the hood and find a plug wire off. Was impressed how strong it was on seven cylinders.
