TimJr Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 So I see a Simplicity 1000lb dump cart for sale here on the site. The tailgate has an early style logo on it. I have never seen a logo like that on a dump cart. Is it just a variation I haven't seen? Obviously carts can be painted and tailgates swapped, stickers slapped on etc.. I thought early Simplicity carts were all orange - box and frame? Then later on went to a black frame with orange box. Then, a white box with black frame, finally all black. A while back there was a short discussion about the Allis carts and the variations they had on the logos applied to them. It would be interesting to document the variations and try to narrow down the years they were built/painted/stickered in the various ways.
Chris727 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Sure looks like a newer cart with an older tailgate. The condition of the tailgate doesn't appear to match the cart. From what I have seen you are correct that the early carts were all orange-red. The black frames didn't come along until the '70s. 2
ShaunE Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 It doesn't appear that the color matches between the tailgate & cart either. The tailgate appears to have more of a reddish tint like the earlier machines. I do really like that decal on the tailgate! 2
B-16_IC Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I'm guessing the tailgate is from the walk behind tractor riding cart. The logo is from the walker era. Same cart with a slightly different hitch and a seat that flipped up to allow dumping. If you look at the later rider carts just in front of the wheels there are holes in the frame unused. The frame never really changed in all the years, the holes are for the brakes the walkers carts had. Just in case anyone ever wondered and didn't know. 6 1

The Simplicity lawn roller used the same frame as the cart and those holes are also used for mounting the scraper bar That keeps the drum clean. 3
