Henry0507 Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I have a Sovereign with the ch18 that runs good but idle rough and seems a little loud. It also shakes quite a bit when shutting it down. I have replaced the plugs, gas filter and took the carb completely apart and cleaned it to no avail. It still runs the same and I can't figure out what the issue might be. Any ideas as I'm at a loss?

Henry0507 Posted July 27, 2019 Author Posted July 27, 2019 I did check the connections and they seem tight. Although I will check again. No work has been done but I purchased this about a year ago and was told the engine was replaced but not sure that it was.
PhanDad Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I’m by no way an engine guru as others are on this site, but I had a similar issue with my CH20 that doesn’t get used much. It’s my understanding that it’s almost impossible to mechanically clean the new carbs especially the idle circuit. My solution was a heavy dose of SeaForm in non ethanol gas it worked for me. 1
kwt Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Took apart the Keihin carb on my Honda powered Sovereign because it was running very rich. Of course it is non adjustable. Looked pristine clean except for an orifice in the main jet/emusion tube assembly dodad in the center of the carb. Used a teeny sliver of wood to make it round again. Sprayed carb cleaner everywhere I could think of, and adjusted float height lower. Reassembled. Works great, but I really don't know exactly what fixed it.
