mbinwi Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Hi crew, I'm back. How's everyone? have we lost any members? I'm taking my 7016 to our place in northern WI. Our neighbor is a mechanic, he's busy this time of year with boat motors, ATV's, side by sides, etc., but during the winter, he restores old tractors, and starting this winter, he's quitting the snow removal service, so I need a snow blower. He's going to completely rebuild the motor for me, and he has a space in his pole shed where I can take the tractor down, and sand blast and paint, while he's working on the motor. The guy I got the tractor and snow blower from said it kept spinning of the belts, and he wasn't sure if it was the correct blower for that tractor. It's a 36" blower, single stage. I've looked all over it and I can't find any numbers. Any info you guys can pass on would be greatly appreciated By the way, I have a 725 that needs restoring if any one is interested. I've determined that I will never get to it. Mike.. Edited July 29, 2019 by mbinwi
PhanDad Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Maybe a FDT blower on a RBT. Pics would help diagnose.
mbinwi Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 I thought I had pictures in my file in here, but I have everything BUT the 7016. Anyway, after searching around, I found out the thrower should be 1690033, which I found the manual, but it's odd it doesn't give a part number for the belts I need. I'll have to look for a parts manual. I'm 100% positive that the thrower I have was not made for a foot dragger. From what I see in the manual, I belief I have the correct thrower for this tractor. This drives off the pulley on the front of the motor. Now to search for a parts list and belt numbers. Maybe the previous owner wasn't using the right belt. The sticker on the thrower is no longer there, you can see where it once was. Once I find the correct belt No., I'll mount it back on the tractor and give it a test run. Thanks, Mike.
mbinwi Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) Well that was quick, thanks to Parts Tree. I have a parts diagram for the thrower, and belt number. Looks Like Jacks has it too. I'll check with my local place first. Mike. Edited July 30, 2019 by mbinwi
PhanDad Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I used to run front PTO driven snowblowers. There are at least two 2-pulley hitches made for this setup. They are different and may effect the belt length by a bit. That might have been the issue the PO had with belts. Some comparison pics of the hitches: The "V" pulley is larger in diameter and the pulley mounts are positioned differently. Might have something to do with how the snowblower driven pulley is mounted (hub in vs hub out).
mbinwi Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 OK, thanks, I'll have to look again at what arrangement I have. I need to find the sticky on posting photos. Thanks PhanDad. Mike.
MikeES Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Also on the shown hitches/pulleys for the 7000 series tractors, it is very easy to have the pivot mount slightly bent (the round rods) from dragging the snowthrower around. If they are not perfect, they will wreak belts in just a few minutes. When they are right the belt will last a decade of snowblowing. You can only line them up while everything is installed on the tractor and then it is all eyeballing the belt from pulley to pulley.
mbinwi Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Thanks Mike, I was thinking the same thing, as one of the idlers that transition the belt appear to be out of alignment, so another reason I want to hook the thrower back up to the tractor, and give it a test run, with the right belt. Thanks, Mike.
