JohnA
Just aquired the above, I'm looking for a repair manual. The starter is unhooked and not sure how to rewire.
tej
The starter may not be any good Larry - usually there is a reason they are left disconnected. First try putting power directly to the starter and bypassing the rest of the system. You can use your car battery and you must have "good" jumper cables. Make sure trans is in neutrtal and blades are disengaged. Attach the positive directly to the starter "hot" lug. Then touch the negative cable to a good engine ground spot - if the starter does nothing you have internal problems.
Guest
I did what you said and starter works and started mower. Now I found that the red and black wire coming from the back side of the starter,(not main feed wire) have been cut and do not know where they go. My key will not shut off the mower after it has been started. I know it sounds like a mess but it does run good and mows very good. I think it worth saving and I'm having fun with it. Any more good ideals?? Larry B
Guest
One bad thing-All of Simlicity's wires used back then were black. If you understand wiring schematics I can E-mail you one from my Broadmoor book and you can then run things down. I ended up taping wire ends with different color 3-M tape to keep things sraight. But the good part is, it is not an automobile. PS you need Win -95 to get E-mail to work
