Guest Posted May 6, 2002 Trying to get my Simplicity 3110 B&S rear-engine rider running again. Bought it new about 20 years ago and has been sitting idle for about the last 4 years. Installed new plug and rebuilt carb. It starts good and seems to run ok at low throttle and low speed but tries to stall and sputter at higher throttle or under a load. Engine has electronic ignition- no points/condenser. Is there any thing I need to check or adjust on the ignition...replace coil maybe, or is it most likely still a carb problem? Engine ID no. is 220707-0630-01-82090311. I've taken the mowing deck off and intend to use the rider as my 'golf cart'. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Dutch 4 Posted May 6, 2002 Did you dump that 4 year old fuel? Did you check the gap on the new plug? More than likely a carb problem. Get it running at high speed and adjust the high speed screw. See if it smooths out.
HubbardRA 20 Posted May 6, 2002 Remember that the main jet should be adjusted at wide open throttle, while idle mixture jet is at idle. Also, do you have the right number plug? Rod H.
