Simplicity 3310/725 attachment/rear hitch question

Recommended Posts

Hey all, someone near me has 2 of the older tractors, I believe a 725 and 728. In the pic, the one with the rake has the rear lift also I believe.

Would that rake and lift/hitch work on a 3310? Maybe with modification or something

Or where to find an attachment manual, seems I can't find it in the parts/service manuals.

Just found this thread:

https://simpletractors.com/forums/topic/10581-sleeve-hitch/

Seems it may fit, someone said how the 3300 is like a transitional mix from the old style to the newer 3400s.

And I think I may only need the actual sleeve hitch and cables/pulleys possibly.

The rear tube lift will transfer but the solid lift rod is used with lift lever quadrants without notches. The 3310 came with a notched lift lever quadrant and I believe uses a cable so the attachment can float. It may be possible to switch the lift lever quadrants.

Yeah, that's what it seemed like. I'll have to figure out how the cable one goes together more, I've looked a little bit. Maybe make one or find used.

The rake shown above isn't attached to a "sleeve hitch"; it's attached to the upper lift tube and pinned at the bottom of the tractor rear hitch as are most (all?) non-sleeve hitch rear attachments made for our "Sovereign" type tractors.  This is a pic of a "sleeve hitch":

Ah yea, people always refer to it as a sleeve hitch I had thought, but maybe that's what was confusing me lol. Then I've seen someone say that hitch you posted is a Brinly meaning the company that makes attachments still for that?

Would be nice to have a rake like that

Yeah, what are its main uses?

I was thinking may be nice for light grading/seeding the lawn.

The 3310 did come with a notched lift lever quadrant but it had a "float cam" which @B10Dave identified when I posted this pic about my "parts" 3310H awhile back:

Maybe it's just for front attachments?   I doubt the 3310 tractors had the 3200 tractor's "linked" solid lift rod that could provide float for rear attachments.

The 3310 Operators manual lists Rear Lift Kit# 990690 in the accessory table.  I don't have any info on that kit number.  Earliest I have is #99071, 929, & 984:

Looks like #984 has the hole for the sleeve hitch rod pictured above.

Ah that helps a bit also, that is what mine has and didn't realize that cam was so attachments could float along the ground. Good to know and I'll have to look for that page in the manual, don't think I've seen that one.

Found it, I didn't realize simplicity also has all the manuals on their site for the attachments also.

Hmm need to look up more pictures/diagrams I guess. My tractor doesn't have the metal part in the frame for the cable pulley to bolt into.

Might've used a 2 peice rod or extended rod since it's a variable trans. Or maybe I can just weld a tab in, get a pulley and some cable.

My 3310H has a solid rear lift rod, with a threaded yoke for adjustment.

Oh interesting! I'll send you a message or can you post a picture here?

I've collected pics of various parts over the years, from sales ads and tractors that have passed my way,  Since it seems your tractor requires a solid lift rod (or a split solid lift rod) here are some pics.

Solid lift rod on a 3212H:

Thank you, that helps, not sure which I need yet, but I read its longer than some of the others due to the wheelbase of the variable being longer? If anything I'll get those 2 older tractors and maybe fab up a way to use the solid piece.

Sideplates are 4" longer for hydros and I believe variables vs the short wheel base straight gear tractors.  So I would think the rod would be 4" longer.
