mbrook
I'm looking into purchasing a "Sunrunner" and was wondering the quality of cut you get with them. I have just under 1 acre, and it is very flat. Also when looking at this type of mower what are some of the items to be concerned with.
powermax_paul
I got a 8 hp Sunrunner for my wife to use last year. My feeling is that it's a good machine for use around a lot of obstacles. Otherwise the quality of cut is comparable to boxstore garden tractors like Yardman or Cub Cadet and John Deere. This unit is not suited for hilly terrain. We have now moved this mower to our cottage on the lake because of all the trees we have to mow around there. Paul
Pat_R
RE: Sunrunner\ Using a 1982-3 Sunrunner, three blade deck, owned by an aunt. Since I am the user and maintainer, thought you would like the following information: Good cut and manueverability around trees and obstacles; Had a hill and grade problem, but changed the belt and adjusted the drive belt tension (idler arm above deck, right front, nut and rod adjustment) Chain popping off: This season, had a chain link problem, so bought a new chain and a handful of new links. Kept popping chain links. Finally discovered the e-clip and washer holding the drive wheels to the axle had been lost and the chain sprocket had drifted out of alignment. Reset the wheels and axle. OBTW now have a bag of 22 wheel axle e-clips left, if anyone needs some. Steering cables are a weak point, just lost one this season, and had changed the other steering cable last season. Have trouble finding an inexpensive replacement yet. Any suggestions out there for mail or internet parts dealer?
BigSix
Pat: Steering cables? As in, no rigid linkages? Peter
Pat_R
This SunRunner uses two separate steering cables from the front to each of the rear steering wheels, with no rigid linkages.
JeffNemes
The latest cables have a inner plastic liner and also include turning limiters for the rear wheels. I don't believe any of these broke after replacement. We one or two in stock.
