68_Mag
Well, after two years of waiting, I finally got a blade for our garden tractor. Since I have to fill in the hole I dug several months ago (12x12 by 6 deep), I build a front mount blade. It isnt perfect, but with what I had, it works. It's only 22 inches wide, but it'll push a load. It's about 3 feet tall, edge to edge, and with stock turf tires (about 5-7 psi low) in low gear it'll push as much as the blade can hold. Now I just need a way to get it to 'cut' into the packed stuff since the remaining fill dirt is only about an inch high. By the time it gets a good load, the front tires come up on the fill pile and I lose the load- suggestions?
Guest
Possibly try some front weights on the blade and wheels.
68_Mag
It isnt that, I have enough down pressure on the blade to raise the front end off the ground. The problem is the tires get up on the pile I'm pushing, and that lifts the blade, because it's connected by a solid rod to the frame. I think I know how to fix it, but mainly it's just the fact that I need more practice using my blade. :)
