RickH 0 Posted May 11, 2002 I know I'm going to sound stupid but I had to remove the universal ball for my shifter from the tranny on my 71" 728 to weld the ears back on for the shift lever. In the process the half bushing disintegrated so off to the local dealer I go. 8 dollars and 7 days later the parts came in. Finally, the mower has been stting in two pieces in the garage waiting. I drop the universal ball into the half bearings and start to gently tap them in halfway down the the half bearing break. So out they come again and it will be off to the dealer to order another set. Since I have time before they come in does anyone have any ideas for getting them back in with destroying them, is a special driver needed? or I was even thinking of chilling them first so they'll shrink a little I am stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the great forum also without the help I received I would have disassembled the tranny for this repair so thanks members.
