Addicted2Breathing
Hey everyone, My dad gave me this old Allis Chalmers/Simplicity 2110 love child of a tractor and it had issues starting, took about 10 minutes of messing around with the throttle and choke to get her started up. Once started and warmed up it seemed to run pretty well and only died a few times when I brought the throttle down to idle too quickly. Was sitting for about 5-ish years and the carburetor was encrusted with grease fuzz so I removed the carb, bathed it heavily in carb cleaner and scrubbed and picked away all the fuzz, installed it with a new gasket, breather tube and installed a new fuel filter, fuel cut off switch, spark plug and air filter. Now the thing starts up within a few seconds and seemingly runs like a champ. Until you notice the engine is pulsating in revs and dies when the throttle is brought down below half way. My first thought is perhaps the fuel cut off switch or even the hoses used isn't allowing the required fuel through but given the amount of fuel I spilled installing all of that I feel like its definitely getting the fuel from the tank to the carb with no issues. OR Would this be where adjusting the low speed screw comes into play on the carb?
Addicted2Breathing
Nevermind! I answered my own question. Took a little bit of fiddling around with the low and high speed screws but I got rid of the pulsing and now can bring it down to low idle without it dying. May tweek the high speed a little bit just because it feels like its under powered at the moment but that may have just been because I haven't been able to run the thing for two weeks and I have forgotten how it used to run prior to the cleaning.
