Dig-It 198T backhoe

I have an old Dig-It backhoe with an electrical problem. The engine is a Kohler 18S. When I try to start it, the fuse blows. I'm having trouble finding the short. The wiring connector between the instrument panel and the engine has been messed up and I'm trying to figure out the wiring connections there. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this engine.

Kohler, Digit 148T, SKH521 U 1G2RA, model CH18S, spec # 62558

And if anyone could show me a photo of both sides of that wiring connector I'd be quite grateful. It's down by the starter.

A pic of the engine connectors installed on a Simplicity Sovereign with Kohler CH18S engine:

The engine harness connector is on the left, the tractor harness on the right (ignore the relay, that's not part of a standard install)

(I had to wire the above connector for a Triad to Command engine swap so only one wire was installed when the pic was taken.)

(Only pic I have)

Wiring "Pin Out" connectors as provided by Al Eden:

With my added comments and engine connector end view.

And finally the Command wiring info from the Kohler Service manual:

Also has my added comments and "blue" wire.

Incredibly helpful, PhanDad. Many thanks. I'll start comparing this to my setup. I'm still unsure of how to pinpoint the short that is blowing fuses, but getting this mess straightened out seems like the first step.
